Hours & Tour Types

Applewood is closed for the season. Visit us again when we reopen in May 2020!

Hours: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday–Sunday from May to October.

Available during our open season only. Explore three levels of the Mott family home and visit all the main living spaces. Step inside the master bedroom, check out the basement recreation area (including the bowling alley), and so much more! Online reservations are free. Tours can accommodate no more than eight guests at a time. (Due to the limited tour capacity, we use a wait list. Those arriving more than five minutes after their scheduled tour begins may be asked to reschedule.) See our Frequently Asked Questions about tours.

The historic house can accommodate smaller-sized wheelchairs and strollers on the first floor only. For those who do not have house tour reservations, you can still explore the house (and gardens!) through our virtual tour – available as part of the exhibit in the garage and on our website here.

Half-hour strolling tours of the first floor are available during open season without reservations during special events on a first-come, first-served basis.

A free guided walking tour of the gardens is offered without reservations at noon each open day during the season. We’ll tell you where to meet when you arrive at Applewood. (Guests may always explore the grounds on their own.)

PLEASE NOTE: This is an outdoor walking tour with portions up and down hills and across lawns.

We specialize in group tours during our open season! Let us customize an experience for your group of six people or more. Reservations must be made by phone, and booked at least two weeks in advance. Please call 810.396.3104.
