Hours & Tour Types

Hours: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday–Sunday from May to October.

Explore three levels of the Mott family home and visit all the main living spaces. Step inside the master bedroom, check out the basement recreation area (including the bowling alley), and so much more! Online reservations are free and available here. Tours can accommodate no more than eight guests at a time. (Due to the limited tour capacity, we use a wait list. Those arriving more than five minutes after their scheduled tour begins may be asked to reschedule.) See our Frequently Asked Questions about tours.

The historic house can accommodate smaller-sized wheelchairs and strollers on the first floor only. For those who do not have house tour reservations, you can still explore the house (and gardens!) through our virtual tour – available as part of the exhibit in the garage and on our website here.

Half-hour strolling tours of the first floor are available without reservations during special events on a first-come, first-served basis.

2019 event days with strolling tours:
May 2-5: Season Opening
May 12: Mother’s Day
July 13: Wet Paint Day
July 25: Savor the Summer (event lasts from 4-8 p.m.)
September 28: Fall Harvest Festival
October 26-27: Halloween in the Gardens

A free guided walking tour of the gardens is offered without reservations at noon each open day. We’ll tell you where to meet when you arrive at Applewood. (Guests may always explore the grounds on their own.)

PLEASE NOTE: This is an outdoor walking tour with portions up and down hills and across lawns.

We specialize in group tours! Let us customize an experience for your group of six people or more. Reservations must be made by phone, and booked at least two weeks in advance. Please call 810.396.3104.
