Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all tours are suspended for the 2021 season. The gardens & grounds will open in June for outdoor exploration only (buildings closed). Learn more about self-guided tours of the grounds and self-guided mindfulness activities at the Visitor Services desk during your visit.
Check out our reopening information at Planning Your Visit to learn more about our efforts to make your visit safe and enjoyable.
Guided House Tours
Available by reservation only, this interactive experience takes visitors through three levels of the Mott family home, with stories of their lives at Applewood woven throughout the tour. Explore all the main living spaces, step inside the master bedroom, check out the basement recreation area, and so much more! Due to limited space inside, eight or fewer guests are permitted per tour.
Those who do not have reservations can explore our virtual tour, available as part of the exhibit in the historic garage and on our website.
Self-Guided House Tours
Self-guided tours of the Mott family home are available on Sundays from 1–4 p.m. without reservations during our open season. Self-guided tours are first come, first served. Guides will be on hand to answer questions.
Walking Garden Tours
A guided walking tour of the gardens and grounds is offered without reservations at 12:30 p.m. each open day. The garden tour begins at the Visitor Services desk, where you will meet your guide. (Guests may always explore the grounds on their own when Applewood is open.)
PLEASE NOTE: This is an outdoor walking tour with portions up and down hills and across lawns.
We specialize in group tours during our open season! Let us customize an experience for your group of nine to 60 people. Reservation requests can be made online or by calling 810.280.7313.
PLEASE NOTE: Group Tour reservations MUST be booked one month in advance.
