Civic Matters: All About Architecture
Event Details
Celebrate Historic Preservation Month with us at Applewood!
If these walls could talk—well, they can! Our buildings can tell us a lot, if we only take the time to listen. So, take the time and find out what our buildings are saying about themselves and about us. Learn how America’s story can be found in your house and in your neighborhood. Discover why our buildings look like they do and why they were built the way they are. Learn to identify key features that will enable you to recognize the various styles.
Drop in anytime 1–4 p.m. for a snapshot of historical architecture through the decades, offered in partnership with the Genesee County Historical Society. Explore key features of architecture from different time periods and styles so you can start identifying historic buildings in your neighborhood—an important first step for historic preservation.
The enduring legacy of Charles Stewart and Ruth Mott is their extraordinary commitment to civic participation. From preserving our history to volunteering in community, we’ll demonstrate ways that anyone can engage in civic life. This year’s topics are focused on historic preservation and getting involved in the community where you live.
Drop in to Civic Matters anytime from 1–4 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of the month through October. Admission and activities at Applewood are always free!
