October at Applewood: Turf Care & House Winterization
Join us for October at Applewood every Saturday to learn about how and why we care for the grounds, house, and collections at Applewood. Learn new skills you can use at home or in your community as we explore how caring for our yards and gardens or preserving our history are important forms of civic participation. Drop in anytime from noon to 3 p.m. Applewood events are always free!
Oct. 2 topics:
Turf Care & Management: Learn best practices for turf management in the fall, including how and when to apply fertilizer, ideal watering, and mowing techniques.
House Winterization: We’ll talk about the basics of how to prepare a house—historic or otherwise—for the winter season! This session will focus on the importance of cleaning your gutters and downspouts.
Please note: All October at Applewood sessions are outdoors. Some programs may be canceled or adjusted in case of poor weather. Face masks are recommended for participants over age 2.
