October at Applewood: Touch-A-Tractor & Floor Care

Event Details

Join us for October at Applewood every Saturday to learn about how and why we care for the grounds, house, and collections at Applewood. Learn new skills you can use at home or in your community as we explore how caring for our yards and gardens or preserving our history are important forms of civic participation. Drop in anytime from noon to 3 p.m.

Touch-a-Tractor: Get an up-close look at the tractors, trailers, mowers, and other equipment we use to maintain the grounds at Applewood. Learn how to care for and store similar equipment, and routine maintenance to perform to keep equipment in tip-top condition.

Floor Care: Rain, snow, and salt can be rough on floor surfaces of all kinds. Join us as we explore ways to protect your floors from damage during the fall and winter seasons.

Please note: All October at Applewood sessions are outdoors. Some programs may be canceled or adjusted in case of poor weather. Face masks are recommended for participants over age 2.

For those interested in contributing, Applewood will be a collection site for items needed at the Franklin Avenue Mission for the remainder of our open season, through the end of October. Items specifically in need are children’s undergarments and socks, and infant items. We will have donation bins at each entrance gate for anyone who chooses to donate during our open days. Thank you!
